Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, is one of Africa’s last kingdoms. The government is an absolute monarchy and King Mswati III rules since 1986.  They hold elections every five years to determine the House of Assembly and the Senate majority. The current constitution was adopted in 2005. One of the most important events of Eswatini is the Umhlanga, a reed dance held in August/September, and the incwala, the kingship dance held in December/January.

Eswatini is a small country, around 300 km from north to south and 215 from east to west. The population depends mostly on subsistence farming. However, there are huge tree plantations and sugar cane fields, all owned by the government.
