DAY 1. Johannesburg – Vic Falls
We start the Vic Falls package in Johannesburg and fly from the O R Tambo International Airport to Vic Falls Airport. On arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Later this afternoon you are set to embark on a 2-hour Sundowner Cruise on the Zambezi River. Enjoy finger snacks with your favourite alcoholic or soft drink on the Zambezi River.
The cruise is a superb way to relax and enjoy the beauty of the river. You have the opportunity to see a variety of game including hippo, crocodile, elephant and sometimes even rhino, and an abundance of bird species. Overnight at the A’Zambezi River Lodge.
DAY 2. Vic Falls
The Vic Falls is in its 150 millionths’ year! And it’s a truly awe-inspiring experience – the sight, the sound, the smell, the humbling feeling that this may indeed be nature’s supreme masterpiece. Nothing prepares one for your first sight of it. You join a guided tour of the falls this morning. Your personal guide will accompany you through the rainforest with interesting information about the history of the area while explaining about the flora, fauna, bird and wildlife and other points of interest. We return to the hotel later or you can do our own exploring. Ask the bus driver to drop you at the nearby Look-out Cafe for great views of the river and while having an excellent lunch (lunch not included). Here you could even try one of Africa’s highest ziplines or the gorge swing!
The afternoon is at your leisure to walk in the village – be on the lookout for elephants – or take a taxi to the hotel.
Your driver will transfer you to the Boma Place of Eating… This is not just another ethnic restaurant but a rather unique cultural experience. You will be greeted in local languages and invited to take part in a hand washing ceremony before sampling traditional beer and snacks before dinner. Excellent cuisine, including a variety of traditional Zimbabwean dishes, are on offer. The meal is accompanied by entertainment such as traditional dancers, the storyteller and a local witch-doctor for some fortune-telling. After dinner, the Sangoma tells tales of the country’s folklore, culture and heritage. The highlight of the evening is the interactive drumming and dancing, so come prepared to participate. Afterwards you are transferred to your hotel.
3. Vic Falls – Return Flight to O R Tambo International Airport
After breakfast, you have time for some last-minute exploring, such as optional flights by helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft. After exploring we take you to the local airport for your flight to Johannesburg arriving mid-afternoon. You could even book these activities with us beforehand to avoid possible disappointment.
