Tours and Travel Packages for Solo Travelers

The need to streamline bookings for single travelers have increased enormously in the last few years. For that reason we have decided to design a system to make it easier for our single travelers to book our tours as part of a small group tour while not having to pay the single traveler premium! To facilitate it we started off with offering all the departures on our tours that have spaces for singles. Our single travelers would tour in a safe environment in our luxury microbuses with other travelers having similar interests. We  will have the system set up and fully operation around the end of December 2018. In the meantime, please contact Debbie at debbie@southerncircle.com  for assistance with your booking.

1 Day Sani Pass Guided Tour – Durban (Code: SCDA)

This Sani Pass day tour is an adventure day out! Travel up the mountain pass with 4 wheel drive vehicles, awe at the views and on a clear day one can see up to 250km! Drive inland past Pietermaritzburg to the area of gently pastoral beauty, also called the Natal Midlands. We pass through grassy plains scattered with Zulu villages and lush farmlands where plump cattle and thoroughbred horses graze. Traverse through Underberg, a picturesque little village situated in the foothills of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains.  At Himeville you change vehicles and set off in a 4 wheel drive minibus for the drive up Sani Pass, named after the primitive people who lived in the area millennia ago. The ascend is steep at places with hair-raising bends. The driver talk about the geography and also stop frequently for photo opportunities of the breathtaking views. Afterwards, arrive at the top of the mountain in the kingdom of Lesotho. You visit the locals and they may  invite you into their house, which often result into tasting locally baked snacks or bread! Lunch is served at the top in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho some 3 000 metres above sea level. Afterwards, we descend down the mountain, change vehicles and set off to Durban. Wildlife Highlights Safari – Durban to Durban (Code: SCDH)

This overnight safari departing from Durban is completely devoted to finding Africa’s wildlife including the Big Five in the Zululand reserves north of Durban – for those with limited time.  We operate the tour in our vehicles with the opportunity to join open vehicle safaris to further enhance the experience. DAY 1   Durban – Zululand – Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park (Big Five Safari) Our Big Five wildlife safari commences at around 08h00 from Durban.  Travel northwards and turn towards the village of Eshowe (Zulu for the sound of the wind blowing through the forest).Traverse along scenic mountainous areas with beautiful vistas. Past Ulundi, the Capital of the previous homeland of KwaZulu, continue to the park. Enter Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park game reserve to start our game viewing and spend the day here. 4 Day Guided Garden Route Tour from Cape Town – Solo

DAY 01. Cape Town – Hermanus – Swellendam – Mossel Bay (Cape Garden Route) Depart on the Cape Garden Route tour at around 09h00. We continue eastwards towards the Garden Route. The road takes us via a beautiful coastal route between Gordon’s Bay and the beautiful seaside town of Hermanus. (Hermanus is also arguably the best place in the World to spot Whales from land – July to Dec). After lunch you continue to Mossel Bay and visit famous Cape Town tourist attractions such as the oldest post office in Africa.   A huge hollow tree was used to hide the post at the site of the first landfall, made by the Portuguese explorer Bartholomew Dias in 1488. Day 1.  Cape Town – Mossel Bay – George – Knysna Depart from Cape Town on the Garden Route tour and drive eastwards via Sir Lowry’s Pass. Travel through the famous apple country of Grabouw to Swellendam and Mossel Bay. Here you visit arguably the oldest post office in Africa, the Post Office Tree. 4 Day Kruger Park Explorer Tour – Solo

Day 1.  Johannesburg – Kruger National Park We embark on the Kruger Park Safari by driving eastwards via Witbank and Middelburg to Nelspruit and enter the Kruger National Park in the south.  Our encounter with the wild life starts here as we begin our  thrilling Kruger National Park safari. Tonight we enter our camp for dinner and overnight. We overnight in our comfortable free-standing ‘rondavel’ type room with air-conditioning and en-suite bathroom. Day 2.  Luxurious Kruger National Park Safari Today we devote to game viewing and we search for the ‘Big Five’ amongst other animals. We reach our camp at sunset for dinner and overnight. Some may want to do a night drive in an open game viewing vehicle utilising high powered spotlights to find the nocturnal animals (optional). Day 3.  Panoramic Route After a final game drive and breakfast, we leave the park and drive via Klaserie and the Abel Erasmus Pass to the Escarpment and visit Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window and the Pinnacle Rock. Travel to Sabie where we overnight. Overnight Ligna Lodge. Day 4.  Pilgrim’s Rest – JNB Our first stop is at the Lone Creek falls. We then visit the town of Pilgrim’s Rest, the museum. 6 Day Great South African Wildlife Expedition – Solo

DAY 1 St Lucia – Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park – Private Reserve (Wildlife safari and scenery) Our first day on this wildlife safari and scenery tour takes us northwards towards the subtropical coast and bushveld of Zululand – home of the mighty Zulu nation and visit the village of St Lucia for a boat cruise on the estuary of the famous lake St Lucia (proclaimed a World Heritage Site in December 1999). Crocodiles, hippos and wildlife including birds such as the fish eagle are in abundance. After lunch (optional) we travel to the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park, where the rhino was saved from extinction and home to the shy nyala and the Big Five. We exit the park early evening and drive to our private lodge for dinner and overnight at Zulu Nyala Game Lodge. DAY 2  Swaziland We join and early morning open vehicle safari to search for the African wildlife awakening. After breakfast we head northwards and continue to Swaziland. We enter at the Onverwacht border post and follow a scenic route via Nhlangano to Manzini, where crossing every hill leads to a new vista. We stop in the Malkerns Valley for some excellent shopping opportunities. Apart from Swazi Candles, where the locals hand-mould wax into a wide variety of colourful candles, there is also a hand-craft market, a batik factory outlet, and other interesting shops. Forester’s Arms. DAY 3  Kruger National Park Today we travel through the capital of Swaziland, Mbabane, and visit the Ngwenya Glass factory further on, where all products are hand made from recycled glass. We continue through magnificent mountain scenery via Piggs Peak and leave Swaziland entering the Kruger National Park in the south. The rest of the day is devoted to game viewing. We overnight in chalets in a rest camp within the park. DAY 4 Explore Kruger
