Terms and Conditions

PLEASE READ OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS. THEY OUTLINE OUR LIABILITY AND THE CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH YOUR TOUR WILL OPERATE. ACCEPTANCE OF THE TOUR DOCUMENTS REPRESENT AN ACCEPTANCE BY THE GUEST OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS FOLLOW:

1.  RESERVATIONS

Where applicable on the longer tours, a deposit of 10% – 20 % (ten to twenty per cent) of the total price on overland tours is payable at the time of making your reservation. The balance of the fare is due roughly 45 days prior to departure or a date determined when booking your tour. We reserve the right to cancel a reservation where the total fare has not been paid by the due date. Reservations will be considered as firm bookings as soon as we receive the deposit subject to full payment received on the due date. We are bonded with Southern Africa Tourism Service Association (SATSA) that covers deposits and pre-payments made in the unlikely event that we are placed under sequestration / liquidation and / or unable to perform our services due to financial constraints.

2. GUARANTEED DEPARTURES

Except where otherwise stated, the tour will operate irrespectively of the number of passengers once a departure is officially confirmed to you with a voucher or similar document. We reserve the right to utilise different sized vehicles depending on the number of passengers.

3. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

No inoculations or vaccinations are required at the time of going to print, but we recommend that you check with your doctor or local health department. An anti-malaria drug is strongly recommended in the extreme northeasterly section of South Africa and neighbouring countries, please consult your doctor or check with us for assistance. People arriving in South Africa from a yellow fever zone must have a valid international yellow fever inoculation certificate older than 10 days – even only visiting a yellow fever zone as a stop-over!

4. PASSPORT

Please check with your local travel agent regarding requirements for passports and visas or contact us with the following information: Your country of residence, your nationality and which country your passport was issued in. If you need to obtain a visa before arriving in South Africa and you are joining the SCMD and/or SCDB tour/s, please ensure that your visa is valid for multi-entry into South Africa and also check your visa requirements for Swaziland and Lesotho as we traverse through these countries. Please ensure that your passport has AT LEAST two open pages side by side when arriving in South Africa and is valid for at least 6 months after the time of travel. If you do not comply with these conditions, you will be refused entry into the country!  Kindly take note; if you are entering South Africa more than once, the same condition applies on the subsequent entries.

5. LUGGAGE

Luggage is limited to one medium sized suitcase, preferably the soft type, with a maximum weight of 23 kg per person and one soft carry-on piece of luggage excluding ladies handbags, etc. Please make prior arrangements with us if the maximum allowed luggage is likely to be exceeded.

6. INSURANCE CHARGES

We strongly recommend that you insure yourself against possible cancellation, personal accident, medical expenses, loss of luggage etc.  Our cancelations policy is strictly adhered to as we are governed by the hotels’ cancellation policies as well. Please contact us for more information and/or rates.

7. CANCELLATION CHARGES

The following cancellation charges will apply in respect of travel arrangements:

More than 30 days – only administration, bank and other costs made on behalf of the guest may be charged. A fee for designing private tours may be levied when extensive time was spent on such itinerary design.

From 29 to 21 days prior to departure – 25% of tour price (Subject to hotel cancellation policy)

From 20 to 14 days prior to departure – 50% of tour price (Subject to hotel cancellation policy)

Less than 14 days prior to departure – between 80 and 95% of tour price (Subject to cancellation policies of the hotels used)

A no-show (not present at collection point on the day and time of departure) attracts 100% of the tour price

7. Flight Bookings

As we are not an IATA agent, you agree to us booking flights on your behalf with the understanding that we are not liable for any financial or other loss of, but not limited to, missed onward flights or any other subsequent services as a result of delays or cancellations of the flights we booked.

8.LIABILITY

We reserve the right to make, with or without notice, changes to vehicles, accommodation, meals, schedule, sightseeing or route without liability to the passenger due to adverse weather conditions, closure of roads, hotels, or any other reason out of our control.

9. RESPONSIBILITY

We give notice that arrangements for transport, conveyance and accommodation are made upon the express condition that that, although it is our explicit endeavours to conduct our services to the best of our abilities, we accept no responsibility of liability in respect of either person or property for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularities which may be occasioned either by reason of any defect in any vehicle or through the acts or defaults of any company or persons engaged in conveying the passengers or carrying out arrangements of the tour, therewith or any accommodation, establishment or servant. In the unlikely event of and accident involving our vehicles, we hold an insurance to cover emergency evacuation to the nearest hospital and initial emergency medical care.

Some of the highlights of this tour are the prestigious Northern Suburbs of Sandton, Rosebank and Houghton. This tour won’t be complete without a visit to Constitution Hill, home of the Constitutional Court, also the site of the notorious Old Fort Prison. A drive through the cosmopolitan Hillbrow, a colourful insight to South Africa’s “Manhattan” is also included.

Drive inland past Pietermaritzburg to the area of gently pastoral beauty called the Natal Midlands. We pass through grassy plains scattered with villages and lush farmlands where plump cattle and thoroughbred horses graze. Then further through Underberg, a picturesque little village situated in the foothills of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains. Now we set off to Sani Pass, named after the primitive people who lived in the area millennia ago, for a four-wheel drive with hair-raising bends and breathtaking views to the top of the mountain. Lunch is served at the top in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho some 3 000 m above sea level. We return early afternoon, change vehicles and set off to Durban.

DAY 1    Durban – Drakensberg Mountains – Sani Pass We depart at around 09h00 for your tour to the Sani Pass and Natal Midlands. Drive inland to Pietermaritzburg, the capital of KwaZulu-Natal, for a brief city tour. Stop at the railway station where Mahatma Gandhi was thrown off the train because of the colour of his skin. Enter the waiting room where, in the silence of the night, he formulated his philosophy of passive resistance. Continue to Howick and visit the 100m high Howick Falls. Next, we stop at the monument erected on the spot where Nelson Mandela was arrested in 1961 . Continue through an area of gentle pastoral beauty called the Natal Midlands. We pass through grassy plains scattered with villages and lush farmlands where plump cattle and thoroughbred horses graze. Then further through Underberg, a picturesque little village situated in the foothills of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains. Our hotel is in the lap of the mountain with peaks towering up to 3400m above sea level. 2 Day Wildlife Highlights Durban Safari (Code: SCDH)

DAY 1   Durban – Zululand – Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park (Big Five Safari) Our Big Five safari commences at around 08h00 from Durban and we travel northwards and turn towards the village of Eshowe (Zulu for the sound of the wind blowing through the forest).Travel further through exceptional scenic mountainous areas with beautiful vistas and past Ulundi, the Capital of the previous homeland of KwaZulu. We enter Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park game reserve to start our game viewing and spend the day here. Late afternoon we exit the park and exit late afternoon and travel to our nearby country hotel. 2 Day Zululand Wildlife Safari Guided Tour (Code: SCDE)

DAY 1. Durban – Lake St Lucia – Wildlife Reserve (Wildlife, Culture and World Heritage Site) Our tour of the African wildlife and world heritage site departs from Durban area. We travel north through sugar cane fields past KwaDukuza, the home of Shaka (the father of the Zulu nation).  Further through large eucalyptus plantations towards the subtropical coast and bushveld of Zululand. Arrive in the village of St Lucia and join a boat cruise on the estuary of the famous Lake St Lucia situated in the iSimangaliso Wetlands Park (proclaimed a World Heritage Site in 1999). The lake is a wildlife paradise with bird species such as fish eagle, Goliath heron and many more. Your skipper/guide will show you the world of the hippo and the crocodile and the other mystic inhabitants of the “deep”.
