Terms and Conditions



Where applicable on the longer tours, a deposit of 10% – 20 % (ten to twenty per cent) of the total price on overland tours is payable at the time of making your reservation. The balance of the fare is due roughly 45 days prior to departure or a date determined when booking your tour. We reserve the right to cancel a reservation where the total fare has not been paid by the due date. Reservations will be considered as firm bookings as soon as we receive the deposit subject to full payment received on the due date. We are bonded with Southern Africa Tourism Service Association (SATSA) that covers deposits and pre-payments made in the unlikely event that we are placed under sequestration / liquidation and / or unable to perform our services due to financial constraints.


Except where otherwise stated, the tour will operate irrespectively of the number of passengers once a departure is officially confirmed to you with a voucher or similar document. We reserve the right to utilise different sized vehicles depending on the number of passengers.


No inoculations or vaccinations are required at the time of going to print, but we recommend that you check with your doctor or local health department. An anti-malaria drug is strongly recommended in the extreme northeasterly section of South Africa and neighbouring countries, please consult your doctor or check with us for assistance. People arriving in South Africa from a yellow fever zone must have a valid international yellow fever inoculation certificate older than 10 days – even only visiting a yellow fever zone as a stop-over!


Please check with your local travel agent regarding requirements for passports and visas or contact us with the following information: Your country of residence, your nationality and which country your passport was issued in. If you need to obtain a visa before arriving in South Africa and you are joining the SCMD and/or SCDB tour/s, please ensure that your visa is valid for multi-entry into South Africa and also check your visa requirements for Swaziland and Lesotho as we traverse through these countries. Please ensure that your passport has AT LEAST two open pages side by side when arriving in South Africa and is valid for at least 6 months after the time of travel. If you do not comply with these conditions, you will be refused entry into the country!  Kindly take note; if you are entering South Africa more than once, the same condition applies on the subsequent entries.


Luggage is limited to one medium sized suitcase, preferably the soft type, with a maximum weight of 23 kg per person and one soft carry-on piece of luggage excluding ladies handbags, etc. Please make prior arrangements with us if the maximum allowed luggage is likely to be exceeded.


We strongly recommend that you insure yourself against possible cancellation, personal accident, medical expenses, loss of luggage etc.  Our cancelations policy is strictly adhered to as we are governed by the hotels’ cancellation policies as well. Please contact us for more information and/or rates.


The following cancellation charges will apply in respect of travel arrangements:

More than 30 days – only administration, bank and other costs made on behalf of the guest may be charged. A fee for designing private tours may be levied when extensive time was spent on such itinerary design.

From 29 to 21 days prior to departure – 25% of tour price (Subject to hotel cancellation policy)

From 20 to 14 days prior to departure – 50% of tour price (Subject to hotel cancellation policy)

Less than 14 days prior to departure – between 80 and 95% of tour price (Subject to cancellation policies of the hotels used)

A no-show (not present at collection point on the day and time of departure) attracts 100% of the tour price

7. Flight Bookings

As we are not an IATA agent, you agree to us booking flights on your behalf with the understanding that we are not liable for any financial or other loss of, but not limited to, missed onward flights or any other subsequent services as a result of delays or cancellations of the flights we booked.


We reserve the right to make, with or without notice, changes to vehicles, accommodation, meals, schedule, sightseeing or route without liability to the passenger due to adverse weather conditions, closure of roads, hotels, or any other reason out of our control.


We give notice that arrangements for transport, conveyance and accommodation are made upon the express condition that that, although it is our explicit endeavours to conduct our services to the best of our abilities, we accept no responsibility of liability in respect of either person or property for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularities which may be occasioned either by reason of any defect in any vehicle or through the acts or defaults of any company or persons engaged in conveying the passengers or carrying out arrangements of the tour, therewith or any accommodation, establishment or servant. In the unlikely event of and accident involving our vehicles, we hold an insurance to cover emergency evacuation to the nearest hospital and initial emergency medical care.


1 Day Sani Pass Guided Tour – Durban (Code: SCDA)

This Sani Pass day tour is an adventure day out! Travel up the mountain pass with 4 wheel drive vehicles, awe at the views and on a clear day one can see up to 250km! Drive inland past Pietermaritzburg to the area of gently pastoral beauty, also called the Natal Midlands. We pass through grassy plains scattered with Zulu villages and lush farmlands where plump cattle and thoroughbred horses graze. Traverse through Underberg, a picturesque little village situated in the foothills of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains.  At Himeville you change vehicles and set off in a 4 wheel drive minibus for the drive up Sani Pass, named after the primitive people who lived in the area millennia ago. The ascend is steep at places with hair-raising bends. The driver talk about the geography and also stop frequently for photo opportunities of the breathtaking views. Afterwards, arrive at the top of the mountain in the kingdom of Lesotho. You visit the locals and they may  invite you into their house, which often result into tasting locally baked snacks or bread! Lunch is served at the top in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho some 3 000 metres above sea level. Afterwards, we descend down the mountain, change vehicles and set off to Durban. 2 Day Drakensberg Mountains Highlights Tour – Durban (Code: SCDB)

With this tour we incorporate a visit to Pietermaritzburg where police kicked Mahatma Ghandi off the train because of his skin colour, the Howick Falls, Nelsom Mandela’s capture site, a 4 x 4 drive up Sani Pas, interaction with the locals in Lesotho and lunch at the highest pub in Africa! DAY 1    Durban – Drakensberg Mountains – Sani Pass We depart at around 09h00 for your tour to the Drakensberg Mountains and Sani Pass via the Natal Midlands. Drive inland to Pietermaritzburg, the capital of KwaZulu-Natal, for a brief city tour. Stop at the railway station where Mahatma Gandhi was thrown off the train because of the colour of his skin. Enter the waiting room where, in the silence of the night, he formulated his philosophy of passive resistance. Continue to Howick and visit the 100m high Howick Falls. Next, we stop at the monument erected on the spot where police arrested Nelson Mandela in 1961 as a result of his resistance to the former Apartheid government. Continue through an area of gentle pastoral beauty called the Natal Midlands. We pass through grassy plains scattered with villages and lush farmlands where plump cattle and thoroughbred horses graze. Then further through Underberg, a picturesque little village situated in the foothills of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains. Wildlife Highlights Safari – Durban to Durban (Code: SCDH)

This overnight safari departing from Durban is completely devoted to finding Africa’s wildlife including the Big Five in the Zululand reserves north of Durban – for those with limited time.  We operate the tour in our vehicles, but you also have  the opportunity to join optional open vehicle safaris to further enhance the experience. DAY 1   Durban – Zululand – Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park (Big Five Safari) Our Big Five wildlife safari commences at around 08h00 from Durban.  Travel northwards and turn towards the village of Eshowe (Zulu for the sound of the wind blowing through the forest). Traverse further along scenic hilly areas with beautiful vistas. Once past Ulundi, the Capital of the previous homeland of KwaZulu, continue to the park. Enter Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park game reserve to start our game viewing and spend the day here. The touch of wildlife 1 day tour is designed to offer just as the tour name suggests; a full day to touch on the amazing wildlife of Africa including the Big Five( lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo) for those who have limited time!  With the time limit we do not promise that you will see all of the Big Five among many other mammals, birds, etc, but we have been successful many times! ITINERARY Depart early from Durban on the touch of wildlife 1 day tour and travel north through sugar cane fields towards the sub‑tropical coast and bushveld of Zululand. This tour encompasses a mix of wildlife safaris, a Zulu cultural experience and a boat cruise on lake St Lucia. The lake is situated inside the iSimangaliso world heritage site and hippo, croc and abundant birdlife can be seen from the boat.
