6-Day Wild Coast and Garden Route Tour – Durban to Cape Town (Code: SCDP)

6- Days Wild Coast and Garden Route Tour This tour includes the rugged Wild Coast and the scenic Garden Route.  But firstly, it follows the lush, sub-tropical coastline from Durban on the East Coast.  The tour ends in Cape Town, situated in the southwestern corner of South Africa!  DAY 1  South Coast – Wild Coast (Durban – Cape Town) The drive from Durban takes you along the coastal route through lush subtropical vegetation and numerous holiday villages dotted along the seaboard. We visit the scenic Oribi Gorge and some beautiful little beaches. Turn inland and further along, enter the Eastern Cape Province, the former homeland of Transkei and traverse over hilly grasslands dotted with Xhosa homesteads through valleys and clear streams. Today’s final part is via tiny hamlets and into the wild part of the rugged Wild Coast and checks into a hotel on the edge of the sea. Overnight Mbotyi Lodge. DAY 2 Wild Coast You travel to Umtata, the capital of the former homeland. We visit the Nelson Mandela Museum and afterwards travel south towards our lodge. The lodge is nestled in the middle of the beautiful Chintsa Bay on the Wild Coast, surrounded by rolling hills, lush tropical beach forests. Situated on the dunes, it also overlooks the warm Indian Ocean. Overnight Crawford Beach Lodge. DAY 3 Addo Elephant National Park – Gqeberha(Port Elizabeth) We enjoy breakfast overlooking the shimmering Indian Ocean on the Wild Coast and afterwards depart for East London, the only river port in South Africa. This is also the place where a prehistoric coelacanth was caught in 1938. We travel further and enjoy the lush vegetation and rugged coastline. 6-Day Garden Route, Wildlife and semi-desert Karoo This 6-day guided tour starts off exploring the lush and scenic Garden Route and, secondly, wildlife in the adjacent semi-desert.  Also included are three national wildlife areas, the Addo, the Mountain Zebra and Karoo National Parks! This tour is an excellent substitute for game viewing in the north of the country! Day 1.  Cape Town – Route 62 – Oudtshoorn (Garden Route and Wildlife) Depart from Cape Town on the 6-day garden route and wildlife guided tour. Drive eastwards via the beautiful Du Toit’s Kloof Mountains and the Breede Valley Wine region, the heartland of South Africa’s Brandy producers, as well as via the Robertson and Montague wine regions. You visit one of the many Wine Estates in these areas for a wine tasting. Continue via Route 62 through the Little Karoo with its many unique mountain ranges and vegetation to Oudtshoorn. Visit an Ostrich Show Farm for some exceptional experiences with these strange birds! We overnight in Oudtshoorn, also called the “Feather capital” of the world. Over ninety per cent of the world’s ostrich farms are found here. Overnight in a Guest Lodge on a working ostrich farm – La Plume Lodge. Dinner included today. Day 2. Cango Caves – Garden Route – George – Knysna Our first stop is at the Cango Caves, regarded as one of South Africa’s foremost natural wonders. The fascinating calcite caves comprise an underground wonderland of stalactites and stalagmites. An optional visit to the Cango wildlife ranch can be done. The Ranch encompasses over 90 different species of animals. They provide guided tours which are fundamental in educating the public, giving each species a voice, and highlighting animal and environmental issues. 12-Day South African Explorer Tour (Code: SC-04)

South Africa Explorer Tour The South Africa Explorer tour does just that; you will be doing a lot of exploring; firstly, around five days of wildlife and scenery to Durban, the holiday mecca of South Africa. Then we travel further along the Wild Coast and Garden Route ending in Cape Town. DAY_1. Johannesburg – Panoramic Route (Safari and scenery) Our first morning on the South African Explorer takes us from Johannesburg via Middelburg, Dullstroom and Robber’s Pass to Pilgrim´s Rest, the early gold mining town turned into a living museum. Rich deposits of alluvial gold were found here at the end of the 19th century. Afterwards, we continue to Sabie. Here we have a pleasant walk through the indigenous forest to visit Lone Creek Falls. Afterwards, travel to Ligna Lodge. DAY_2.  Panoramic Route – Private Reserve We travel via Graskop and marvel at the scenic areas, for instance, the Pinnacle, God’s Window, Lisbon Falls, Bourke’s Luck Potholes (a walk down the hill to this unique trick of nature is worth the effort), and the magnificent Three Rondavels view and the breathtaking sight at the Blyde River Canyon. Afterwards, we descend to the Lowveld via Abel Erasmus Pass and the Strijdom Tunnel to arrive at Mohlabetsi in the Balule private game reserve,  a part of the Greater Kruger National Park. This afternoon our encounter with Africa’s wildlife begins as we travel on an open vehicle to search for the game. We enjoy a great dinner under the stars. (weather permitting). Overnight Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge. DAY_3.  Private Reserve –  Kruger National Park After an early morning open vehicle game drive or, if available and conditions are favourable, we hike on foot, searching for the animals. After breakfast, we leave for the Kruger National Park.  We spend the afternoon in this magnificent reserve
